George
George (above, top) was adopted as a kitten.
His mother was a feral cat, and George was destined to become
the same had FSAS not intervened. He and his littermates were
rescued from the vacant house where they were living and were
nursed back to health by FSAS volunteers. They were gradually
socialized to accept human contact. My five-year-old son happened
to meet George one day, and they became instant friends. Although
I was hesitant at first to bring a kitten into our home for
fear that it would be too stressful for our older cat ("Sherpa"
-- above, bottom), my wife and I decided to adopt George. After
a brief adjustment period, during which we were all reintroduced
to the "joys" of kittenhood, George settled down and
became a wonderful part of our family. George loves to play
and has been a great playmate to our son, who has also learned
a great deal about patience, gentleness, and companionship from
his friend George. I have been around cats all of my life, but
I would have to say that George is one of the most loving and
affectionate cats I have ever known. I thank FSAS for bringing
him into our lives. |
